Polish Egg Noodles with Cottage Cheese and Bacon – Makaron z bialym serem i boczkiem

Polish Egg Noodles with Cottage Cheese and Bacon will definitely appeal to lovers of Polish cuisine. So simple and homely. This is one of those dishes that will always bring to mind holidays at grandma’s or summer dinners at mom’s or aunt’s.

I ate pasta prepared in this way as a child and in college, because the dish is inexpensive and quick to prepare.

Nowadays, I make Noodles with Cottage Cheese and Bacon when I’m nostalgic for the old days. The dish has its own charm – cottage cheese, fried bacon and pasta with a pinch of salt and pepper, and nothing else. For me, it’s a brilliant combination.

Ingredients :

  • 3 cups egg noodles
  • 1 lb bacon
  • 250g (0.5 lbs) dry cottage cheese
  • 1 onion
  • salt & pepper

Step by step instructions:

Step 1

Boil 4 liters of salted water in a large pot. Cook pasta al ‘dente for about 7-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

In the meantime, finely chop the bacon and onion. Add the bacon to the hot frying pan and fry for about 1 minute, then add onion. Fry on medium heat until the onion is browned and bacon is crisp.

Step 3

Put the pasta on the plate, sprinkle with the cottage cheese crushed in the fingers and pour the fried onion with bacon. Mix thoroughly. Season generously with freshly ground pepper and salt if needed.

Serve immediately. Smacznego!!!
